From April 23 to 25, 2025, the China Perovskite and Tanner Cell (Northwest) Industrialization Forum was successfully held in Xi'an, attracting numerous industry professionals to discuss major development plans. Insight into industry challenges, focusing on coating challenges
At the forum, Honest Intelligent's technical team conducted an in-depth and comprehensive analysis of the current coating processes for perovskite and tandem cells. Sheet coating faces severe challenges in actual production, with the stability of coating speed like a wild horse that is hard to tame. Due to limitations in mechanical precision of equipment and factors such as temperature and humidity in the production environment, coating speeds often fluctuate. This not only makes it difficult to precisely control coating thickness but also results in uneven product quality, seriously affecting product consistency and yield rates.
Crystalline silicon perovskite coating faces many similar problems. The problem of fluid accumulation at the beginning and end of the tail is like a persistent problem troubling manufacturers. During the start and end stages of coating, excess coating solution accumulates at the substrate edges, which not only causes material waste and increases production costs, but also may cause defects in subsequent production processes, greatly reducing product yield rates. In addition, the poor compatibility between coating cycles and the overall production process prevents efficient coordination between production stages, severely restricting overall production efficiency improvements.
For membrane coating, rapid inspection of large-area products is as difficult as finding a needle in a haystack. Traditional inspection methods are inefficient, making it difficult to conduct comprehensive and detailed inspection of large-area coated products in a short time, and making it difficult to detect potential defects in time. At the same time, controlling the smoothness of large substrates during coating is extremely difficult. Once the substrate shakes or shifts, it leads to uneven coating and affects product quality.
Innovative technological breakthroughs unlock new chapters in coating
To address these challenges, Honest Intelligent has introduced a series of highly innovative solutions. In sheet coating, the company's independently developed high-precision coating control system is known as the "anchor of the sea." The system integrates advanced sensor technology and intelligent algorithms, enabling real-time and precise monitoring of coating speed and liquid supply changes. Once abnormal fluctuations in the data are detected, the system responds quickly by automatically adjusting relevant parameters to ensure the coating process remains stable, effectively improving product quality consistency.
In the crystalline silicon perovskite coating process, Honest Intelligent cleverly solved the problem of fluid accumulation at the beginning and end by optimizing die head design. The newly designed die head ensures that the coating solution is evenly distributed on the substrate, reducing the formation of edge liquid. At the same time, the company's developed intelligent tap adjustment system can automatically and precisely adjust coating cycle rates according to actual production process requirements. This system analyzes data from each stage of the production line in real time, enabling seamless integration between coating cycles and other production stages, making the entire production process smoother and significantly improving efficiency.
Facing the challenges of membrane coating, Honest Intelligent has introduced advanced optical inspection technology and big data analysis methods. Optical inspection equipment can quickly and comprehensively scan large-area coated products, using high-resolution image acquisition technology to accurately identify tiny surface defects. By combining big data analysis algorithms, the system can deeply mine and analyze the collected data, not only quickly locating defects but also predicting potential quality issues, providing strong support for optimizing the production process. In terms of substrate stability control, the company's newly developed substrate support and transmission system uses advanced suspension technology and high-precision transmission devices, effectively reducing substrate shaking and shifting during coating, ensuring uniformity and consistency.
Verified by real-world cases, demonstrating outstanding results
Honest Intelligent's achievements in coating equipment R&D are remarkable. The experimental medium-sized flat double-coated coating equipment (ST350mm) produced by the company features a unique dual gantry, dual coating head, and dual liquid supply system design. This innovative design gives the equipment high flexibility and precision, meeting various experimental needs and providing researchers with powerful experimental tools. Multiple beat-type flat coating machines, such as 300400mm and 6001200mm specifications, have achieved a high degree of automation in the production process. They feature a series of functions such as automatic loading and unloading, pre-coating, wiping, solution replacement, and cleaning. Combined with advanced online monitoring systems, they can monitor equipment operating status and product quality in real time, promptly identify and resolve issues, effectively improving production efficiency and product quality.
The production line-type HJT laminated perovskite coating equipment and perovskite coil-to-roll coating equipment are also star products of Honest Intelligent. The production line-type HJT tandem perovskite coating equipment demonstrates efficient and stable performance in actual production, enabling large-scale, high-quality perovskite module manufacturing. Perovskite roll-to-roll coating equipment focuses on the preparation of flexible perovskite modules, with large-area flexible modules measuring 350mm × 1050mm achieving an efficiency of up to 17.75%, providing strong support for the commercial application of flexible perovskite cells.
